Prevention Services

We provide a wide range of HIV and AIDS prevention services at UWC.
These include:

 

  • Advice on practicing safe/safer sex
  • Tips on healthier living (how to protect yourself from contracting HIV and healthy living if your status is positive)
  • TB and other opportunistic infection prevention and control services
  • Free male condoms(80 locations on campus-including all residence halls and toilets)
  • Free female condoms from campus health services
  • HIV/AIDS focus weeks that include film shows, abstinence and safe sex pledges
  • People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA’s) are available for talks to students and staff as well as for outreach activities
  • Peer education programmes
  • Resources (Pamphlets, posters, films, publications) (links to pamphlets/posters section)
  • Training courses for staff and students
  • Community outreach activities
  • Interactive theatre group (AIDS ACT)
  • Free HIV testing and counseling
  • Our Health Promoters are available for individual and group support to all members of the university community infected or affected by HIV. Feel free to contact him if you have any questions about HIV.
